Dog Shots

On the way to Japan, I stopped over in Singapore briefly and got lots of photos of our new dog. Here are some of them.

Innovative Media

As requested by the pseudo beng, here's a picture of a power assisted bicycle for sale in Tokyo.

And here's a video clip of lift request cancellation in action! (Photos wouldn't mean a thing here would it.)

Innovation that makes you go "WOW!"

The Wow Innovations I've seen in Japan...

(1) I heard that our Japanese host had an electric bicycle. So when he rode over to our accomodation one night to meet up for dinner, I asked him if I could try it and he said ok. So I asked where the trottle was. He said just ride; which I did. And wow! It's a power assisted electric bike! The bike detects your pedal force and magnifies it. So with a little bit of effort, you can start zooming about. (I think its make and model is "Yamaha PAS XPC26".)

(2) We were in the lift and someone's shoulder accidentally pressed the wrong floor. What do we do? We cancel it! "Double Click" to cancel. I'm wondering if this is a common feature which I just never tried before. I'm going to try it on every lift I board now!

Earthquake

I just experienced my first earthquake! The building was swaying! Feels like being in a boat.

Details of the quake are available here I think.

Watch the road

Toyota's got a new device that watches the driver. If it detects that the driver is not watching the road, it sounds a warning and if that doesn't change things, the "brakes kick in"! "Research shows that most accidents happen because the driver isn't paying attention, according to Toyota." And a machine that is watching the driver and not the road applying the brakes will not cause accidents!??!
