Apple iBook (12-inch)
Now that I've completed the customary "Hello World", I shall write about something. First thing in-front of me to write about: iBook!
I use an Apple iBook (12-inch). It's the first Mac I've owned and getting used to Mac OS X took a few days. Every once in awhile, I learn something new about OS X. It is a rather different interface from Linux and Windows. A list of these follows:
If you're using a Mac, you've gotta get DesktopManager. This allows your Mac to have multiple virtual desktops like on Gnome and KDE; only that the desktop switching on the Mac is also cool! With this application, instead of hiding windows you are not working on, simply move those you are working on to a fresh desktop.
Tip: learn the short-cut keys! Mousing about wastes time!

- The menu bar for applications appear on the top of the screen. I found this strange, but it makes sense. Menus are always in the same place.
- Stuff about the application in the foreground can always be found in the menu option that is the application's name.
- There is no taskbar. Instead, there is a dock and nifty F9. Say you are working on a sub-set of the windows opened. What you do is hide the rest and F9 allows you to select from the working set.
- Different network proxy settings can be saved as "locations". This is great for a laptop, as a laptop travels. Unfortunately, applications like Firefox doesn't lookup proxy settings through the current location.
